Growing Chamomile

The garden is excited about the almost record-setting rainfall we had in May!

Here’s a peek at the Chamomile beds, where we’ve been harvesting every few days to restock our dried goods. To harvest, simply cut the top 4” or so of each plant. Put flowers on a drying rack, in a brown paper bag, or hang bunches to dry. We’ve tried using a berry picker tool for harvesting, but think it is more efficient to cut with snips or scissors.

Chamomile is an annual that readily self-seeds in the area it is given! It’s a perfect addition to the herb and medicinal garden. Simply allow some flowers to fully mature into seeds. They’ll fall and reseed the following year. No tilling is necessary, the Chamomile will fill in.
