Aronia Berries, also known as Chokeberries

This week we got some rain & Aronia Berries harvested! We love these perennials, also called Chokeberries, because they’re jam-packed w/ vitamins, minerals & antioxidants. The berries grow on a small bush that will produce more and more berries as it matures. There are different varieties and sizes of Aronia Berry bushes; they’re cold hardy and do well in zone 5. Ours were planted 5 years ago and each bush produces about 1 lb of berries at this point. This bitter-tart berry blends beautifully into a smoothie or into a sweet fruit syrup.

We freeze some of our fresh harvest for smoothies & make Aronia Berry Rhubarb syrup with the rest! The syrup is a blend of Aronia Berries, Rhubarb, Lemon Juice & Sugar—it’s all the flavors rolled into one. This sweet & tart topping is stocked in our online shop in both 4 oz & 8 oz sizes.
